Crying in the Club- Camila Cabello

Sheet Music for I Have Questions and Crying in the Club

My Cover

You think that you’ll die without him
You know that’s a lie that you tell yourself
You fear that you lay alone forever now
It ain’t true, ain’t true, ain’t true, no

So put your arms around me tonight
Let the music lift you up like you’ve never been so high
Open up your heart to me
Let the music lift you up like you’ve never been this free
‘Til you feel the sunrise
Let the music warm your body like the heat of a thousand fires
The heat of a thousand fires

Ain’t no crying in the club (hey, hey)
Let the beat carry ‘way your tears as they fall baby
Ain’t no crying in the club (hey, hey)
With a little faith, your tears turn to ecstasy
Ain’t no crying in the club
I won’t, I won’t, I
Ain’t no crying in the club
I won’t, I won’t, I
Ain’t no crying in the club

You may think that you’ll die without her
But you know that’s a lie that you told yourself
You fear that you’ll never meet another so pure
But it ain’t true, ain’t true, ain’t true, no

So put your arms around me tonight
Let the music lift you up like you’ve never been so high
Open up your heart to me
Let the music lift you up like you’ve never been this free

I never came to the beach or stood by the ocean
I never sat by the shore under the sun with my feet in the sand
But you brought me here and I’m happy that you did
‘Cause now I’m as free as birds catching the wind

I always thought I would sink, so I never swam
I never went boatin’, don’t get how they are floatin’
And sometimes I get so scared of what I can’t understand

But here I am
Next to you
The sky is more blue
In Malibu
Next to you
In Malibu
Next to you

We watched the sun go down as we were walking
I’d spend the rest of my life just standing here talking
You would explain the current, as I just smile
Hoping that you’ll stay the same and nothing will change
And it’ll be us, just for a while
Do we even exist?
That’s when I make the wish
To swim away with the fish

Is it supposed to be this hot all summer long?
I never would’ve believed you
If three years ago you told me
I’d be here writing this song

But here I am
Next to you
The sky is so blue
In Malibu
Next to you
In Malibu
Next to you

Next to you
The sky is so blue
In Malibu
Next to you

We are just like the waves that flow back and forth
Sometimes I feel like I’m drowning and you’re there to save me
And I wanna thank you with all of my heart
It’s a brand new start
A dream come true

Start of Something New

My Cover

Living in my own world
Didn’t understand
That anything can happen
When you take a chance

I never believed in
What I couldn’t see
I never opened up my heart
To all the possibilities

I know that something has changed
Never felt this way
And right here tonight

This could be the start
Of something new
It feels so right
To be here with you
Oh

And now looking in your eyes
I feel in my heart
The start of something new

Now who’d of ever thought that
We’d both be here tonight?
Oh yeah
And the world looks so much brighter (brighter)
With you by my side (by my side)

I know that something has changed
Never felt this way
I know it for real

This could be the start
Of something new
It feels so right
To be here with you
Oh

And now looking in your eyes
I feel in my heart
The start of something new

I never knew that it could happen
Till it happened to me
Oh oh
I didn’t know it before
But now it’s easy to see
Yeah

It’s a start
Of something new
It feels so right
To be here with you
Oh

And now looking in your eyes
I feel in my heart

That it’s the start
Of something new
It feels so right
To be here with you
Yeah

And now looking in your eyes
I feel in my heart
The start of something new
The start of something new

Oh damn, oh damn, oh damn
I’m so perplexed
With just one breath, I’m locked in
Oh damn, oh damn, oh damn
I’m so perplexed
On that, it’s almost shocking
I know, I know you know you’re scared
Your heart, your mind, your soul, your body
They won’t, they won’t, they won’t be careful
But I guess that you don’t know me

Cause if I want you, and I want you, babe
Ain’t going backwards, won’t ask for space
Cause space was just a word made up by someone who’s afraid to get too…

Close, ooh
Oh, so close, ooh
I want you close, ooh
Cause space was just a word made up by someone who’s afraid to get close, ooh
Oh, so close, ooh
I want you close, ooh
Oh, I want you close, and close ain’t close enough, no

Oh man, oh man
I am not really known for ever being speechless
But now, but now somehow
My words roll off my tongue right onto your lips, oh
I’m keeping cool while you keep smiling
Saying all the things I’m thinking
Oh man, oh man
I am like you so I want proof I’m what you’re feeling

Cause if I want you, and I want you, babe
Ain’t going backwards, won’t ask for space
Cause space was just a word made up by someone who’s afraid to get too…

Close, ooh
Oh, so close, ooh
I want you close, ooh
Cause space was just a word made up by someone who’s afraid to get close, ooh
Oh, so close, ooh
I want you close, ooh
Oh, I want you close, and close ain’t close enough, no

Cause if I want you, and I want you, babe
Ain’t going backwards, won’t ask for space
Cause space was just a word made up by someone who’s afraid to get too… close

Album review: 7/27- Fifth Harmony

Fifth Harmony’s sophomore album was out yesterday. #727OUTNOW Being a devoted harmonizer of course I was extremely excited about this release, looking forward to what the girls have in store for us, especially during interviews Lauren and Dinah were always so pumped telling us the group has found the voice, they got more say in this album, they got to be more vulnerable, etc and this album is the reborn of Fifth Harmony hence the name 7/27. I’m not going to lie: I’m a little frustrated that this album isn’t really up to my lofty expectations.(I’m dying for a ballad that can showcase the girls’ amazing vocals which were the thing that brought them to X-factor initially.) But it IS still full of DOPE songs.(no pun intended)

TRACKLIST

1.THAT’S MY GIRL

A powerful upbeat anthem, great way to kick off the album with. Only a few seconds of intro of the song already made me loving it. I’m obsessed with the instrumental of this song (Was that a trumpet?) It gives a vibe that reminded me of “Worth It” and it also talks about girl power and against gender stereotypes of the society that what girls should do and what boys should do. The rhythm of the song is very catchy and I definitely can imagine the girls dancing to it.

2.WORK FROM HOME FT. TY DOLLA $IGN

It is definitely the girls’ most successful one on the charts being the first Billboard Pop Songs No. 1 by a girl group in nearly 10 years. I admit that it’s a fun song to jam out by the pool or to workout to. But is it their best one? Not really. I think the girls are definitely capable of more especially Lauren who got the chorus which is literally just one note and one word over and over. It blew my mind that it took six people to write “work, work, work, work….” while some other songs on this album which got amazing lyrics needed much less songwriters.(I know nothing about song writing so, oh well…) I guess it’s the simple rhythm and the sexy choreography that people love about this song the most (?) As I have mentioned before, I think the priority should be singing before dancing as they’re better singers than dancers. Let the talent speaks for itself- they don’t need so much packaging. That’s why for WFF I like the performance at BBC Live Lounge the most. The note changes gave me life, it was especially refreshing to see all of them attempt to change it instead of just Camila. Being a Camila girl, I would say the thing that saves this song is her runs in the end.

3.THE LIFE

This song pretty much came out when the breaking up rumors were at the peak so no doubt the great timing was to assure us once again the group ain’t going anywhere. With Camila as the lead vocalist in this song, the intentions were very obvious since break up rumours sparked as people thought that Camila was going solo. The song let us know more about the work ethics of this group of ladies and sort of let us peek into “The Life” of 5H. Despite the lyrics being a bit cheesy in my opinion, I think this song showcases the wide range of Camila’s voice as the chorus went quite low, different from what we usually hear from her. Yet I’m not a big fan of all those auto tune and electronic production going on. I like their natural voices more.Is it a great song? No. But it serves its purpose- slamming down the rumours.

4.WRITE ON ME

Before the album release, I put it on repeat for hours as it was probably one of my favourite 5H songs.(and Hence I made a COVER! With notes provided!) “Write On Me” is a metaphor about being open to someone, allowing them to alter your life. It also gives me a message to think outside the box and allow others to inspire you. With an acoustic guitar beginning the song, I thought it would be a softer lyrical song. However, it then built up to a pretty joyful instrumental when it hits the chorus. It is one of the songs where the voices of the girls get to interweave with one another, not singing one by one.

5.I LIED

This is one of the more vulnerable songs in the album with a more simple instrumental. It talks about lying about loving someone and discovering real love. However I feel that the upbeat temple and electronically produced instruments doesn’t really suit the lyrics of the song. Hence I love when Normani sang the chorus near the end with less instrumental in the background. I love that it shows the softer side of them and I think the lyrics are well-written as well.

6.ALL IN MY HEAD (FLEX) FT. FETTY WAP

This is definitely the song of this summer- supper catchy, fun and can stuck “all in my head” for hours. It’s a song that we can get to jam out at that the beach and the melody is easy for us to sing. As for the theme… is it about sex?lol It’s good to see Dinah lead this song, beginning and ending the song as we didn’t get to see a lot of her in the last album “Reflection”. The featured artist, rapper Fetty Wap, also adds some varieties to the song, an edgier touch.

7.SQUEEZE

“Face to face caught in a wild embrace/ This is the safest place place I’ve even known.” This is a much slower and laid-back song and is one of my personal favourites in this album. I love this side of Fifth Harmony. Underneath the melodies, a bass drum playing a simple beat, a piano playing chords and the girls harmonizing can be heard. Hearing the girls harmonize gave me chills- it is so beautiful.(For those saying 5H can’t harmonize- there you go.) Listening to Dinah and Camila sing the chorus together near the end, I never knew their voices blend so well together. The song talks about being in other’s embrace. It made me thought of past memories and brought tears to my eyes.

8.GONNA GET BETTER

I love the opening and the ending of the song which is sang by Ally and is a Capella like. The message of the lyrics reminded me of “Broke Billionaire”by Jacob Whitesides. It talks about the value of true love is not defined money. The harmonies of the pre-chorus are so good- it’s good to see the group actually harmonize instead of solo, then solo, then solo. The Dinah’s runs near the end reminds me of the X-factor days when Dinah belted out high notes near the end of each performances.

9.SCARED OF HAPPY

The lyrics of this song are actually quite sad, about a fearless person actually afraid of being happy. (I don’t know why it reminds me of Beyonce’s “Scared of Lonely”.) I can resonate with the lyrics personally as well. It’s like the idea of calm before storm, perhaps due to the uncertainty of what is going to happen, when happiness comes, it is difficult to just enjoy it. However, the electronic production makes this song sounds quite jubilant and it sounds quite wrong.

10.NOT THAT KINDA GIRL FT. MISSY ELLIOTT

Another power anthem like “That’s My Girl” with a similar message as well. It shows how confident the group are being girls. The rhythm is very strong in this song and hence is definitely a song for dancing a sassy hip hop. Missy Elliot, featured artist in this song, adds more girl power to this whole thing with her bold raps. (Does anyone wonder why does 5H keep on collaborating with rappers?) Hearing the girls swear without censorship also shapes a more grown-up image of them.

11.DOPE

“I don’t know what to say but you’re pretty fucking dope.” This is definitely my favourite as I can relate to it in so many ways lyrically and melodically, talking about a girl lacking the confidence to tell someone that they have feeling for them. The softer side of Camila, Dinah and Lauren gave me chills with an a Capella like performance throughout it. The song uses fewer instruments, mainly just laying a simple beat, allowing us to enjoy their vocals more. It is also refreshing to hear Ally having the high pitch runs instead of Camila.

12.NO WAY

Oh Lauren, slay queen slay. This is another more vulnerable and emotional one in the album. The beautiful lyrics are actually telling a story of a relationship, with a contrasting view from others and the people involved. The story is a journey of the two of them deciding whether to hold on to this tricky love or to let go. According to Lauren, this song was recorded two years ago, and you can clearly identify how the girls grew throughout these years- better breathe control of some of them and Camila’s voice definitely differs. I love this song, the only downside is that the song is quite short and I’m not trying to be greedy but I definitely want more. I don’t want this album to end but I do think this song is a perfect way to end this album.

Overall

I think that on the aspect of their music, the structures of the songs in this album are quite different from “Reflection”. Instead of having them singing one by one with a solo in each verse, then pre-chorus, then they sing the chorus together, building up to the last chorus where Camila has some runs and riffs, this time I can really feel that they are harmonizing and their voices are interweaving throughout the songs, making them a better and more cohesive group. As for the physical CD, I love the photo behind the CD. The group looks happy together and like OT5(oh those feels). However, the words in the booklet are terribly small, especially their thank you messages. I literally needed to use a magnifying glass to read them. I wonder what is the purpose behind, to save paper perhaps?

On the other hand, the portion of solos each of them have is more well- balanced than the previous ones. Being a harmonizer, it is hard for me to see some “fans” hating on Camila because of the solos she had. In my opinion, it is normal for us humans to have favourites and preferences towards the girls as they are all different and we all have different tastes especially when it comes to music which is an art form. However, it isn’t right to spread hate just because you like one of them more. The girls each have different strengths and maybe because of her unique voice Camila had more solos on the last album helping the girls to stand out as a group. Gaining popularity throughout these years, this paved the way to now that the fan-base is humongous and each girl has moments to shine.

I think that this album is very contrasting with “Reflection”, showing a more vulnerable side of them. There certainly are things that I think that can be better and I admit that I want more from them. I think that apart from girl power and love & heartbreak, which most songwriters write about nowadays, there are other things in life that can inspire songs. I look forward to what the future holds for the girls- perhaps an album where they could really be involved in song writing(?) or a Grammy award(?) That would be great. In conclusion, I’m proud to say that I’m a harmonizer.

Trip to Osaka

We’re a group of young people who have just finished dealing with the HKDSE and ready for a vacation to celebrate our graduation. We call this “grad-trip”. It was fun being with my friends twenty-four-seven. Here’s what I thought about this trip.

(Disclaimer: 1. some of the names of the places I found them on Google and I don’t if they’re accurate or not. 2. English is not my mother tongue. 3. I’m not an expert on travelling.)

DAY 1: 13.5.2016

Osaka Science Museum
Our trip actually started at midnight the day before with our plane taking off from Hong Kong at around one o’clock in the morning. After leaving the airport early in the morning without sufficient sleep on the plane, our first impression of Osaka would have been based on our trip to the science museum. Apart from exhaustion, the language barrier also caused us not being able to enjoy the visit. Most of the signage of the displays are written in Japanese that we could only recognise some of them from our lessons (most of us are science students). The number of display and the size of exhibition weren’t quite up to my expectations as well (I have always thought that Japan is very advanced in scientific studies). We did saw something interesting that we haven’t seen in real life: the pendulum wave, magnetic field patterns etc. Being a science lover, i have been adoring the Hong Kong Science Museum for my entire life, maybe due to the comparison i didn’t enjoy the visit very much.

Tenjinbashi-Suji Shopping Street

We got there after going to the Science Museum. It was a shopping street so we obviously went there to shop. When we arrived, there were very few tourists shopping there. Most shops were closed that we had trouble finding a shop to have a drink and rest our legs. There were a few snacks shop that we enjoyed but there wasn’t really too much shopping going around.

Chigyo stalls Tottsuan

We had dinner at this restaurant. It was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Sashimi, sushi,Yakizakana, Tempura, all kinds of Japanese seafood dishes you name it. (I’m not a great food reviewer so I’ll leave this section like this lol.)

DAY 2: 14.5.2016
Kiyomizu-dera

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

It was tiring to walk uphills under the sun. But the view up there and the shops along the street were totally worth this climb.

Tajima-Ya

We had an All-You-Can-Eat Meat buffet for dinner. I’m a meat-eater and I adore beef. The beef was so wonderful that we managed to stuff our stomachs with five huge plates of beef mountain. It was kind of like hotpots that we have in our daily life- only a lifetime better!

DAY 3: 15.5.2016

Tennōji Zoo

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I remember wanting to be a wildlife photographer. I love watching animals interact with one another and how they have different niches in a habitat. (I saw a mama monkey teaching a baby monkey swing on a branch. It was amazing!)  The variety of animals there was great and the distance between the animals and visitors are very close as well, making the experience quite good. However, the environment inside the zoo could be improved: the tanks for aquatic animals were dirty and the surface was so murky that our view was blocked sometimes; the temperature inside was not that comfortable as well (seeing a polar bear under the sun scared me). I guess I don’t really like the idea of wildlife being confined in a limited area when they’re supposed to be roaming freely in the wild. I think this causes them mentally unhealthy. We saw leopards pacing around a small cage with abnormally high heart rate, animals refusing to eat, etc. It was still a good experience going there: at least I can see some “wildlife”.

Momofuku Ando Instant Ramen Museum

When we got there, it was already near their closing time so we just got to make the DIY cup noddles thingy and didn’t really walk around.  It was still super fun and different from what we usually do. We get to decorate the outside of the cup, choose what toppings and flavour we want with our noodles and watch how they pack the noodles in a factory. The experience was very interactive even though you cannot really wrap the cups yourselves but they still let you press the button of the machine and stuff. The theme there was a cute little duckling so the souvenirs from the souvenir shop were cute as well! It was fun.

Tempozan Ferris Wheel

IMG_4224

Hong Kong is known for its skyline and nightscape so it was definitely a different experience to enjoy the view in Osaka. Different from the brilliant hues of neon lights in Hong Kong, the thing that amazed me in Osaka was its peacefulness.  We went there after dinner and the streets were already so tranquil that there were so few pedestrians and cars. It was nice for us to escape from the hustle and bustle in Hong Kong. When I looked down from the Ferris wheel, there wasn’t much to look at apart from roads that looked exactly like those in the Tomica Toys that I played with when I was younger. It was an amazing night there.

DAY 4: 16.5.2016

Universal Studio

It was a perfect day there if it didnt end with rainy dogs and cats. I’m not really a roller coaster person but I really enjoyed the 4D rides. The effects were so real and it made the rides really thrilling, especially the one about Harry Potter. The funny thing was we’re in Japan and I guess English wasn’t really popular there that all those familiar faces from movies were talking in Japanese with no subtitles. I had no idea what was happening and I felt like watching Doreamon or Mario. It was the only down part of the rides. Apart from the rides, I loooove the environment there as well. The decorations were amazing: Harry Potter world looked exactly like the set in the movie; life-like dinosaurs roaming around in Jurrasic Park, the restaurant there was exactly like the tourist center in the movie, etc. And though I said English wasn’t popular there, the songs playing in the theme park were exactly what I had on my phone. I had a great time there! There were too many marvelous things there you ought to go there to find out yourselves!

DAY 5: 17.5.2016

Duskin Museum

Before we went there, we were told that it was a museum about donuts. I thought it’d be cool, I mean, who doesn’t like donuts?lol The service there was great. We could actually borrow audio museum guide devices there. The sad news was the person recording the audio sounded exactly like the one in the recording of our English listening paper. Freshly out of the exams, none of us were exactly thrilled to listen to those audios and the audios were kinda of boring as well. We did enjoyed some donuts in the restaurant in there. It was okay I guess. Apart from introducing the history of Mister Donut, the second floor introduced the history of Duskin, a company which sells cleaning products. We weren’t really interested as well.

Shinsaibashi

This is the real deal if you talk about shopping. The atmosphere was amazing and there were all kinds of shops along the street: food, clothes, accessories…… The shop my friends loved the most was ABC Mart, a shop with a wide range of shoes. There were around six to seven of ABC Marts along the street. Me myself is not really a shopping person and I didn’t buy much.

Food:

-Gram Pancake

The quality of the pancakes was great. I loved it.

DAY 6: 18.5.2016

Kyoto handicraft centre

At the centre, we made Japanese incense bags which have a long history in Japan. Incense bags can be used for bug repellents or simply as a scent. It contains several different types of fragrance, namely sandalwood, cloves, cinnamon, etc. It was fun for us to make some ourselves for souvenirs!

Nishiki Market

Mainly food stalls there. Not my thing. We didn’t stay there long.

Philosopher’s Walk

IMG_4463.JPG

After the market, we decided to split as some of us wanted to go shopping while others want to explore more landmarks in Japan. I followed the scenery group and went to the Philosopher’s Walk. Though the cherry trees weren’t blossomed with flowers, strolling there still gave us a good feeling of being away from the city. The best part was we could actually watch the sunset there. Living in a forest of skyscrapers, it was extremely rare for us to be able to observe the change of colour of the sky.

Fushimi Inari Shrine

IMG_4521IMG_4529

After the refreshing walk, I have no idea who in the world had this fabulous idea of visiting a shrine in the dark. (I admit that I’m extremely scared of the dark.) It was an exciting experience though. I’m glad that even though the visit was brief, we could still had a glimpse of it before leaving Kyoto.

Ichiran

Thinking about it makes me hungry. I have always loved the ramen there after I have tasted it once in Hong Kong. Not much difference between the food there and the branch stores in Hong Kong, only that it’s cheaper and we could enjoy it without being in a long queue!

DAY 7: 19.5.2016

Osaka Castle

IMG_4537.JPG

MORE PHOTOS HERE (I promise they’re awesome. I promise.)

Still with my scenery- viewing buddies. Great times great times- the photos said it all.

Takonotetsu

IMG_4567

Our last meal in Osaka was having self-made Takoyaki (a ball-shaped food made of wheat flour-based batter and minced octopus).Don’t worry about your cooking skills- the staff there were extremely friendly and make sure that you could make yourself a mouth-watering meal.

OTHERS

– Slumber Parties!🎉

Hey, we’re in high school (sort of), of course we parté all night long. That’s the fun part travelling with friends. The highlight was always late night when we got back to our hotel rooms.

-Toilets

Remember the toilets in Cars II? The one Mater didn’t know how to use?

I never knew they’re for real until I got to Japan. Seriously, I was fascinated every time I used a restroom in Japan. A flushing sound is played whenever you sit on the toilet bowl, a butt washing function that I doubt anyone would use and I had to figure out how to flush every time I’ve finished my business.

Railway system

DSC_3220.JPG

I was really amazed by the complicated railway system. There were so many different lines that made me wondered how does the locals know how to go to places. The stations and trains looked like those I’ve seen in movies. The systematicness of people impressed me greatly as well. Queues for going up the escalator, getting in a train, getting off a train were so neat. Even though the footsteps in the subway stations were hectic, people managed not to bump into anyone, they could go with the flow anytime.

All in all, I had a magnificent time there. I hope that there’ll be more exciting adventures like this for us in the future.

Review: Fangirl- Rainbow Rowell

Title: Fangirl

Author: Rainbow Rowell

Pages: 438

I rate this:🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5/5

This is my first review I don’t really know how to do this but I tried 😛 I’ll do a better one next time!

Before I’ve even read this book, I knew I’d love it– with one of my favourite colours as the cover of the book + me being a fangirl all the time. Indeed, this book captured me in so many ways that I couldn’t stop turning the pages.

This book touches the topics of relationships: boy-girl ones and family ones, and also growing up. It follows the life of Cath, one half of a pair of identical twins, when she starts college as a freshman. It’s different from what I usually read (action-packed distopian novels /cliched romance), that I can actually relate to it. Being a fresh graduate from high school, Cath and me are the same in so many ways: unwilling to socialize with new people (being on internet, enjoying fangirl life instead), not knowing what to do with our lives, etc.

Each character is portrayed so well and perfectly imperfect that they can each have a story of their own. I love how the characters would fight and make up with each other eventually- this IS life. I love the awkwardness of Cath, her relationship with her guy (**no spoilers here!**) is more goals to me than the ones in Nicholas Sparks books (which I was obsessed with a while ago) as it is so real: does he like me? What does that kiss meant? Why does he like me? All these dilemma and the incidents leading to the chemistry between them. This is SO real (to a miserably single girl like me :p). I love the loyalty of Reagon, the loveliness of Levi, etc. They are just so damn good.

I love this book so much. You should definitely read it!
